The Ice Maiden and The Cock: Countdown To Collapse

Well the IMF has a new boss, same as the old boss; but softer and gentler. Right?

“Greece’s efforts to close its budget gap have gone a long way but are ‘not sufficient,’” new International Monetary Fund managing director Christine Lagarde said.

“Some of the Italian numbers are excellent,” she told reporters, adding that “It is clearly a fact that Italian growth has to improve.”

But, while Greece and Italy edge closer to financial purgatory, tell me, does the new boss have anything really pleasant to say?  Perhaps she should just suggest to both countries (along with a host of others) that they change to the much more energy-efficient squiggly tailed CFL light bulbs as our bosses have ordered right here for us in the land of good and plenty.

Yet even in the homeland we are having our own problems with debt reduction and solvency.  Maybe soon we too will turn to the Ice Maiden for help.  But, she has already commented on our situation as well.  In an interview on ABC news just this week she noted with perspicacity that a failure to find agreement in Congress on raising the U.S. debt ceiling would jeopardize global economic stability. Really?  You don’t say?  How discerning, how enlightening! Well, perhaps Uncle Sam can just ask her and her Euro-entourage for some new-fangled reverse collateralized debt obligations and, by playing another shell game, secure more vapor paper from the IMF to prop up this big charade just a tad longer.  I mean this would give the minstrel playing blackface, along with the rest of our elites, a chance to finalize his personal post-collapse get-away plans.

Why, the need to prop up this machine up is so crucial now that even one of the top villains in DC has offered our Swindler-in-Chief a Plan B to insure that some of us might still receive Social Security checks in August and for a few months thereafter.  Do you get this?  These buffoons have collectively depleted all of our national resources (tax dollars) on wars of fortune to ensure the plutocrats and other elites here a cheap supply of gas, labor, and consumers.  But us regular ‘homeys’ (tax payers) will just have to go without.

And talk about violent protests.  What would Thucydides have to say about the continuing riots and police confrontations over the new austerity plan in his native Greece, the home of modern democracy?  Perhaps the Greek people can help remind us that civilization and the ‘polis’ or city-state (which they perfected, by the way) is the single most destructive creation in human history.  It replaced kinship with kingship, and egalitarian relations with hierarchical mechanisms of control.  It taxes and squanders the resources of the people, and then places their lives in jeopardy. The State cares only about its own aggrandizement and the enrichment of those who control it, not about the lives of its citizens.  Just ask the have-nots of Egypt, Tunisia, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain, England, and yes… America.

But will Americans ever get pissed-off enough to stop swallowing the bullshit they are being fed in the slaughterhouse, and do something to save their own lazy asses?  As long as we have beers to drink, cars to race, and football games to view (or as the Romans thought – wine to drink, chariots to race, and spectacles to watch in the Coliseum) then we are satisfied.  And Obama’s $86 million already secured financing from a half million starry-eyed fans for his 2012 campaign clearly attests to the profound ignorance and general stupidity of the American populace.  We could have a full-court press on top of us shortly, deliverance style, and these sheeple would still not know they’re being fucked doggie style.  We truly are the CFNation.

We do not seem to care who is riding up front in the big Chariot; we will dutifully follow wherever it leads us.  Wake up America; take a lesson in civil disobedience from Greece, Libya, Egypt, Bahrain, or any other State in MENA.  At least take a hint from the late Mahatma Gandhi.  But DO something.  Just don’t sit there eating fruit loops in your dirty underwear in the basement watching the World Series on your computer screen.  Even Chris Hedges is an admirable example of resistance, non-violent.  Maybe we will just need to take a lesson from one of our empire’s prize possessions/protectorates.  It seems that our brothers and sisters in the US territory of  Puerto Rico are not willing to take this austerity shit lying down like the lilly white gringos here on imperial soil.

So that’s the new song people: budget cuts (translation: no services or Social Security checks to the public) and tax hikes (added costs to the public).  And all for what?  To finance the start of WWIII… the FINAL WAR FOR OIL, so that our rich may live more richly.

And while the good little scouts in DC struggle to find a solution to the debt crisis they helped manufacture here at home, Moody’s (the people who brought you fine bond ratings on those collateralized mortgage obligations that even the bankers who made them bet against) is preparing a downgrade of the US credit rating. But, as apparent debt default looms, the media has acquiesced to the politicians’ kabuki play in creating a Spectacle of high drama for the plebes.  And the pols know that when they announce “an agreement” to save the country, the little people will be so grateful to their masters that we will do whatever they tell us needs to be done. You can be assured that this is high theatre, a kabuki dance of this country’s elite, being played out by all of the parties, so that the owners of the country get what they want; an expanded debt limit, no regulations on betting the house (or against the house), and a general populace that is scared shitless that its country is on the ropes.  That way the owners guarantee we all will play ball and not rock the boat.

Meanwhile our very own Admiral Mullen is threatening military action against North Korea.  Gee, I wonder how that’s going to play out with our soon-to-be enemy in World War III, China, who, by the way, just posted a fiscal surplus of 1.25 trillion Yuan ($193 billion US) in the first half of the year.  Simply put, the Communist Chinese are flush with cash.  And remember, money talks, and no Chinaman will need to walk.  They will all be driving their new Mercedes to watch the show of the crumbling empire, while their government stockpiles the latest in military hardware, most likely from the corporate sponsors of its number one enemy/debtor. Simply put folks, the USA is the stupidest, most reckless, dangerous and violent player on the map today.  Single-handedly, we embody the axis of evil and idiocy wrapped up in one nice neat little package.

And what is this global debt crisis anyway?  It is just another word for BANK BAILOUT my friends, writ LARGE and on a global scale!!  But, as the Russians have stated just this week in one of their news reports: there are two ways for the USA to solve its debt problem.  The first is for all Americans to live with LESS, which the Russians note is simply impossible.  And the second way is for USA to start a new World War, and that is a much more likely scenario my friends.  Enjoy the ongoing spectacle while it lasts!!  And the Ice Maiden?  Well, she just may be left holding the cock!

Nice rant. I’d like to see a bit more on the kinship to kingship transition and how we might manage the reverse transition.

  2. pat murphy says:

    Kulturcritic,
Yup, we been warned for years that it would come down to this kind of position, and I often ponder how the majority of citizens in the country will react to it. So far, lots of talk, but not many taking the walk.

Miller, Just take a look at the web sites and books on the subject of how to change from kingship to Kinship. We have been pushing, in our area for 5 years now, localization of everything that is possible, get as self sufficient as you can, particularly for food and water. Thankfully, we live in an area that seems to be fairly cognizant that something pretty bad is coming down the road and it’s time to start doing, not just talking.

Depending on your perspective, the Russians are dead wrong. It is true that living with less will mean the dragging down of American society by circumstances, and it will not be pretty and I anticipate it will probably also get pretty violent also. It will happen, either voluntarily or forced by some or all the impending events coming our way. I am eminently curious just what the 60 million or so retired people will actually do when the SS checks stop coming in. Dmitry Orlov has some insights on what will transpire when he compares the collapse of Russia to the US ongoing collapse. Lots of info on the net about this man, just start searching.

    • kulturcritic says:

Murph – I think the Russians are just making a comment on the fiscal situation. Their leadership is no more cognizant of the imminent collapse of civil society than ours.

    • Disaffected says:

Russian people are known for their stoicism in the face of what seems like perpetual hard times. Americans on the other hand…

The fucking shit is about to hit the proverbial fan! But oh look! The NFL is about to settle their labor strike/lockout right on time, all the better to ensure that the planned 9-11 orgy of self-hypnotic patriotic bullshit goes off right on schedule and without a hitch. It’s silly season once again, with Thanksgiving and Christmas sales targets already in sight, and the masses must be placated!

  3. John Bollig says:

    So, sandy,

You have finally said it. Something that I have known for the last 30 years of my life. That the rich have their own plans, agenda and will do anything to screw all of us over again, and again and again. I am as usual, amused that you have joined the circus too. You, me and JHK as well as many others get it and thousands of others don’t get it. It is lonely being a biblical prophet, isn’t it ?
WE are truly screwed now and we don’t have a clue where to go now. As for myself sandy, I have my guns and my food and a place to hide out. Most of the good citizens of rural america will survive this mess. My concerns are for the urban and burbs. I don’t think that the crime rate is going to drop… it will skyrocket to madmax level as the great unwashed masses will burn down every american city rather than go with out their cheap thunderbird wine and hostess creme filled cup cakes. I do think that most of our political leadership will end up dead as the public take their vengence on the banksters, the political elite and the social elites.
The 1960’s will be seen as a walk in the park compared to what is about to sweep all of us into the dustbin of history. We will see widespread societal collapse as the social security system falls flat on its face. The black death ( nobama health care plan ? ) will seem quaint as our population gets cut down to 20 % of its high in the 2010 census/ sheeple count . I have no doubt that the end is finally coming and it is a lot sooner than I like but we will survive. Lets raise our glasses to the end as we know it, sandy. If I don’t ever get access to the internet again. good luck in the wilds of russia. August 2nd is a bit close to cut it, but it will do. Too all of my friends, get armed, get land and get shelter…..

    • Disaffected says:

      Let the party begin!

    • kulturcritic says:

Well, John, I does sound like you are prepared. That is the important thing.

    • Disaffected says:

First they came for the immigrants and the minorities, but I wasn’t one, so I said FUCK ‘EM!
Then they came for the old, the weak, and the infirm, but I wasn’t one, so I said FUCK ‘EM!
Then they came for the union members, the malcontents, the bloggers, the LIBERALS…

    • AintSayin says:

      J Bollig,
I agree with most of what you say. However you said “I do think that most of our political leadership will end up dead as the public take their vengence on the banksters, the political elite and the social elites.” Well I hope that I am wrong, but from what I see these days, the “sheeple” will first kill each other, as we are too damned stupid to see, know or understand who our real enemy is. I am afraid that we will first shoot and kill each other while following the propaganda bullshit! I pray that you are right and I am wrong!!!

  4. Anarchrist says:

Informative and insightful stuff as usual KC. On the shell game and post-collapse getaway plans:

    http://www.zerohedge.com/article/guest-post-made-usa-wealth-inequality

The trend is clear, and the underlying game is fairly obvious to those who are looking:

    http://www.theoildrum.com/node/8126

But who wants to look? It makes for some sobering viewing, and who wants to be sober in times such as these?

    http://www.zerohedge.com/article/cvn-77-ghw-bush-enters-persian-gulf-cia-veteran-robert-baer-predicts-september-israel-iran-w

Back over the Euphrates and the Tigris to finish what seems unending; does this taste ‘endgamey’ enough for everyone’s palate?

On a slightly different note, does anyone here agree that the ten-year exponential up-tick in the popularity of the Zombie genre is perhaps a manifestation of suppressed anxiety? Makes sense that the media biz would find a way to sell this primal fear back to us as product, but it’s compelling imagery is it not? – Complete social breakdown. Rotting versions of ourselves and our neighbours numbly roaming the streets. Cannibalism. – Perhaps these are our demons waiting, snarling impatiently at the bottom of the precipice into which we now cannot help but glance as we teeter on the brink. Symptoms of cognitive dissonance are apparent almost anywhere you may care to look, but the whole ‘ravenous brain-dead hordes’ scenario appears to have struck a raw nerve in the subdued ‘livestock’ populace of the West as a whole. Perhaps, I find myself wondering, this is the ultimate representation of the survivalists ‘me against the world’ attitude that defines so many Americans? As an attractive bonus, the ‘undead’ factor absolves the protagonists of the guilt of their brutal acts, but it is rather a lonely existence as generally portrayed, not to mention being an unremitting orgy of charnel gore.

    • kulturcritic says:

AC great analysis of the Zombie genre; I never thought of it as such. You truly are in touch with your generation’s anomie!!

    • kulturcritic says:

AC – I am not sure Jobs is any more altruistic than the insider trader. And I would certainly not agree that capitalism is something good and worth saving.

      • Anarchrist says:

No arguments from me, by way of a caveat “the views represented in the above links are for reference only, and do not necessarily represent the views of the poster”. My usual mix and match at work here; really just the widening rich/poor gap that I’m referring to, not all that Jobs worship about him enriching lives with technology. Zerohedge.com is a very useful resource because the contributers are often connected industry people and thus offer a perspective somewhat immune to ‘official line’ bullshit, but it should be remembered that these are traders looking to make a buck from the market, regardless of how upside down it has become. For the record, I believe global capitalism is dead, what we are witnessing is in fact a Zombie economy; attempts are bing made to mimic life signs, but the patient is most certainly deceased, in fact it’s really starting to smell at this point.

        • Disaffected says:

Agreed, but Zombies, just as in the movies, certainly have the capability to make things interesting for quite some time. The “real” economy – with the glaring exception of war expenditures – has been dead and gone for quite sometime now (and even most of THAT is now mostly contracted, aka “legalized” graft). Wall Street has completely morphed into a global casino craps game that holds everyone else hostage, exactly mirroring the local gambling rackets that increasingly keep so many municipalities alive as well. All supported by debt, the linchpin to keeping the whole scheme afloat. Debt’s what keeps all the little hamsters on their wheels chasing that ever elusive bit of cheese, only to find out that their incessant running was the entire purpose of it all in the first place. And when their heart inevitably explodes, never fear. Corpulent little junior has more than enough calories stored around his or her midsection and in need of burning off, so onto the wheel they’ll go. Hey, SOMEONE’S gotta pay for all those iPhones! Now start running bitchez!

          • Anarchrist says:

Yeah, not really that ‘interesting’ kind of Zombie – it’s a decomposing patient laid out on the slab with rats chewing at it – the undead element is the elite-owned financial and political machinery pumping stimulus through the veins and attempting to mimic a credible pulse, all the while petitioning for a change to the legal definition of ‘dead’ so the great unwashed don’t smell the rot and stop borrowing the future away.

A raised debt ceiling and yet more stimulus is likely I think most people agree, but future easing announcements will buy increasingly less upward activity than last time around, perhaps this continues ad-nauseum until we are down to the hours and minutes. I’m not at all certain about the thinking or the trajectory, but headless chickenism is definitely a feature, and perhaps those calling the shots want as much time as possible to cream off a personal war-chest or disaster-fund. It’s all really quite incredible to imagine let alone behold but here we all are nonetheless.

          • kulturcritic says:

Debt is the foundation of American democracy. Freedom has its strings; for everything else, there is VISA!!

    • Disaffected says:

A new take on the movie Zombieland. Excellent! I had never thought of it that way before, but it certainly makes sense. And, as always, the young, the beautiful, and the hip win the day. Well, I guess some things never change.

  5. Disaffected says:

One sure does get the feeling we’re in some kind of acceleration period leading up to widespread traumatic events occurring in 2012 and thereafter – stupid movie by the same name notwithstanding. We knew that the presidential election alone would signal mass insanity, but of course presidential elections trigger all kinds of related events as well. Could Netanyahu, for instance, possibly want to play out his hand now, while the US remains a “going concern” economically, politically, and militarily? That certainly sounds like a valid concern to me. Such an attack would also hamstring Obama going forward if he were to be reelected, which it certainly appears that he might. I mean really, what’s better in impossibly tough times than an “opposition party” president to hang all the bad stuff on, even as he implements what are obvious across-the-board ruling party policies? I tell you with Dems like Obama, why would the GOP EVER want to sit in the WH again? This is a plan so ingenious that Rove and Norquist must have hatched it.

  6. Hasdrubal Barca says:

In a comment on Sandy’s recent Independence Day post, John B wondered who was more cynical between himself, Sandy, and JHK. Rightfully so, Disaffected was a little dismayed that he wasn’t included on the list.

I would have to say that JHK is the least cynical of the bunch. I love his rants about the violent clowns and jive plastic, etc. I also think he has a pretty good finger on the pulse of the current predicament, but to me there is an air of optimism in his message, as if only (insert favorite whipping boy) could get their act together, we might be able to ride this storm out with a little comfort and dignity for all. Bottom line is that I don’t think he’s personally as caustically pessimistic as his blog posts might suggest. I think he’s writing for his audience and telling them what they want to hear. I still love to read Jim every Monday morning, though.

I think Sandy, and Chris Hedges, for example, go much further in explaining how truly fucked we are and not to get your spirits up about anyone getting their shit together anytime soon. Sandy says our rulers have ten thousand years of the matrix backing them up and Hedges lets us know that they are ruthless fucking evil bastards. Worse yet, ‘we the people’ choose to look the other way. As DA said, it’s not a problem until it happens to me.

One day, I believe, it will be us who will be held responsible for the sins of our masters. How ironic will that be?

  7. kulturcritic says:

Alot of page views this week, but strangely quiet on the commentary! Curious?

    • Disaffected says:

Well, I’VE found another online “connection,” so I’m pursuing THAT quite vigorously right now. But I’m still keeping an eye on things – don’t you worry about that!

  8. John Bollig says:

    Sandy,

My feeling is that the nation is out of control and it will implode in an orgy of violence and destruction that will echo the fall of the roman empire. We may be at that critical date in time that mirrors the 400’s in the late roman empire. Obama is more than likely to be the last elected president of the united states.

  9. Hasdrubal Barca says:

Let’s see, the Ice Maiden is a past intern of former US Secretary of Defense William Cohen. William Cohen’s company–The Cohen Group “provides global business consulting services and advice on tactical and strategic opportunities in virtually every market.”

From the company’s website…“Mastering the complex and often veiled dynamic where government, politics, media, and business intersect requires a rare combination of knowledge, skills and experience. Our Principals bring centuries of experience at the White House, the State Department, the Defense Department, and Congress. This experience encompasses decision making and deal making with government and industry officials in the U.S. and around the world. In addition, our Principals led and managed the Defense Department, the largest and most complex enterprise in the world.”

…This all bullshit to say The Cohen Group is an ‘economic hitman’ company.
I wonder if the connection is a coincidence, hmm?

The Ice Maiden then went on to work for Chicago-based law firm Baker & McKenzie, specializing in anti-trust and labor law. It appears she had a zest for union busting. I wonder what that’s all about.

No wonder she was a shoo-in for the job. European, female, high-level US connections, and a penchant for kicking the serfs around. What’s not to love?

  10. John Bollig says:

    Sandy,
It is not that all of this matters, it does. However my instincts tell me that this lady is a stooge of the right wing power elite. With a resume like that, we have a neo vichy persona akin to Charles Koch. Mr. Koch’s efforts to destroy the social safety net and to reverse robin hood are not limited to the international arena. When confronted with a program to increase taxes or cut services to elderly people, disabled individuals, firefighters, veterans, school children and state civil service workers, Mr. Koch enlisted the state chamber of commerce to do his dirty work. Calling disabled people recieving services from state agencies ” Pigs at the trough ” and services that actually save the state 400 million dollars a year a ” waste of money “. Yes IMF Ice maiden and Charles Koch are in this together. Let’s face it , sandy. The pols are slamming the gates shut and pulling up the drawbridges.

The elimination of the poor, the disabled and minorities has begun. The war on the weak has only started, Sandy. The ovens are the next step….It is truly a sad and criminal day when Nobama, a democrat and a community organizer signs a budget that sends millions of latino, black, working class whites, senior citizens and disabled citizens down the river. It is a death sentence sandy…
